The Family was a TEAM
Charles excelled at building teams and making each team member feel confident, and he worked hard to meet that goal within the family. So one day he declared that the family needed a "Mission Statement". After writing the statement, every year at Christmas time, the entire family would meet formally and discuss the Mission Statement. We would argue about each word and phrase, rivise or change them. The kids would discuss with the adults and we voted on each amendment. It was republished with a framed copy for everyone, not to be changed until the next Christmas. All of us were a part of the process and tried to live up to these goals through the year. We would often refer to this statement among ourselves, expecially when someone needed a gentle reminder.
Charles led the way for us all!
